Harold Hill, a traveling salesman with a shady reputation, arrives in the small town of River City, Iowa, to sell the locals everything they need to start a marching band - from instruments to music lessons. There is a catch … Hill doesn’t know anything about music and plans to leave town before that is uncovered. Marian, the prim-and-proper town librarian, suspects his intentions; but as the two get to know each other, they fall in love and discover the best in themselves. In the end, Harold inspires the entire town and finds his heart and home.

Harold Hill is being played by LHS Band Director and Activities Director, Matt Doherty, reprising the role he played twenty years ago when he attended Lemont High School. .

"The true purpose of arts education is not necessarily to create more professional dancers or artists. It's to create more complete human beings who are critical thinkers, who have curious minds, who can lead productive lives."
