Main Stage Musical

LMCT is thrilled to announce a partnership with

the Lemont High School Band this summer to bring Meredith Willson’s The Music Man to life on the LHS Performing Arts Center stage.

Matt Doherty, band director and activities director

at the high school, will reprise the role of Professor Harold Hill, which he played 20 years ago while a student at LHS.

We are delighted to celebrate the rich, ongoing relationship between LMCT and LHS, while recognizing the life-changing role educators can have on their students and the community!

July 23, at 7 p.m.

Sunday, July 24, at 2 p.m.

Harold Hill, a traveling salesman with a shady reputation, arrives in the small town of River City, Iowa, to sell the locals everything they need to start a marching band - from instruments to music lessons. There is a catch … Hill doesn’t know anything about music and plans to leave town before that is uncovered. Marian, the prim-and-proper town librarian, suspects his intentions; but as the two get to know each other, they fall in love and discover the best in themselves. In the end, Harold inspires the entire town and finds his heart and home.

This classic musical with book, music, and lyrics by Meredith Willson became a Broadway hit in 1957 and won five Tony Awards including Best Musical. With multiple revivals and popular film television adaptations, it remains a favorite production for both professional and amateur theatre companies.
